October 14 marks the birthday anniversary of Armenian soldier, tanker Tigran Abgaryan who fell heroically during the four-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh in April 2016. He would have turned 23 today.
Everyone remembers today the living heroes of the tank No. 321. During the four-day war, the tank crew featuring Tigran Abgaryan, Benyamin Yeghoyan and Vladimir Alikhanyan heroically repelled the attacks of the Azerbaijani forces for two days in Jebrail (Jrakan) in Artsakh.
During a tank attack aimed at retaking a military post captured by Azerbaijan on the night of April 3, the tankers crossed the fire bumper under heavy fire in multiple directions and moved towards the attacking enemy, destroying three of enemy’s eight tanks and significant manpower. The soldiers were killed when their tank was destroyed by Azerbaijani fire on the way back.
A child born in Gyumri a few days after his death was named after Tigran.
