Igor Popov shares initial dates for the meeting on Karabakh settlement between Armenian, Azerbaijani FMs
Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov briefed reporters following the meeting with Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan, Artsakhpress news agency reported.
“At the meeting, we presented our approaches and vision on the humanitarian issues that were discussed between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan at the last meeting in Vienna.
We touched upon the exchange of visits of journalists, as well as issues of detainees. In this regard, we have several ideas; works are underway,” Popov said, as quoted by the source.
In the words of the Russian mediator, recently the co-chairs visited Geneva, where they met with the head of the ICRC, Peter Maurer, and discussed the topic. “As for the negotiation process, if the foreign ministers of the two countries agree, we assume that the meeting can be held in December as part of the forum in Bratislava. With the consent of the parties we are ready to organize this meeting," he added.
in response to question by Artsakhpress how he would comment on a statement by President Aliyev in Sochi that Artsakh is Azerbaijan, Popov referred to the statement by the Russian FM on the matter.
To remind, the Minsk Group co-chairs are visiting Artsakh as part of the regional trip.
