PM sends message on Armenian Press Day
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan issued on Wednesday a congratulatory message on Armenian Press Day, the press service at the government reported.
“Mass media and freedom of speech are among the most important institutions of democracy. Our government is taking consistent steps and will continue to do everything to ensure that our homeland confidently proceeds along the path of democracy,” read the message in part.
Pashinyan next pointed to Armenia’s progress in the World Press Freedom Index, released by the Reporters Without Borders: “Our country has improved its positions by 19 points and is now ranked 61st” said Pashinyan, adding freedom of media is one of the most important values in Armenia, and called on doing everything to preserve and build on it.
