Armenian parliament holding hearings on law on parties
The Armenian National Assembly launched on Friday hearings on the constitutional law on parties, the existing issues and the framework of amendments.
Apart from lawmakers, the hearings are also attended by representatives of various NGOs in Armenia.
“No matter how fundamental the changes to the electoral system to which there is quite a common approach are we must try to improve and substantially change party-related regulations, since we have today the task of creating favorable conditions for the formation of a political field, which is a long-term issue,” ruling My Step MP Nikolay Baghdasaryan said addressing lawmakers.
“It will take years, with its success determining the character of next elections,” the MP added.
According to him, today's hearings will mainly focus on the interim results of the discussions held in the previous two months.
