Tsarukyan condemns secret increase of officials’ salaries as ‘offensive’
Head of the Prosperous Armenia parliamentary faction Gagik Tsarukyan condemns as ‘offensive’ the latest increase of officials’ salaries by a secret order of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“I want to see people’s expectations come true, I want to see changes, don’t get me wrong,” he told reporters at a briefing in the parliament.
The lawmaker is surprised by the fact how such a decision can be hidden from the people.
“If people see that a minister has done his job well and they feel the impact on their daily lives, it [the salary] can be raised tenfold. I see no problem here. But the secret [increase] is offensive to both MPs and the people,” he stressed.
“The word ‘secret’ is unacceptable for us after the revolution,” Tsarukyan added.
