Former deputy chief of Armenian parliament staff arrested
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction ruled on Thursday to arrest Arsen Babayan, the former deputy chief of the Armenian parliament staff.
The court approved a motion of the Special Investigative Service seeking the former official’s arrest, the founder of the VETO initiative protesting outside the court, Narek Malyan told reporters.
“We are thankful to the authorities for meeting our demands to illegally place Arsen Babayan into custody. At this stage, our interests coincide,” Malyan said, adding that the initiative will continue staying focused on the issue.
