Foreign Ministry: Meetings of Armenian, Azerbaijani FMs are announced in agreed manner
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan has commented on the statement of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák on hosting a meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers in Bratislava.
“First of all, meetings between the foreign ministers and leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan are mediated solely by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and high-ranking representatives of the co-chairing countries.
“It is true that co-chairs extended an offer to organize a meeting, which we stated in our press releases on New York meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as on the results of the mediators’ visit to the region. As you know, we announce such meetings in an agreed manner and we will not violate this principle,” she said.
In an interview to the Voice of America’s Armenian Service, Miroslav Lajčák said the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers will hold a new round of talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict in Bratislava in the near future under his mediation.
“I am looking forward to hosting the two foreign ministers in Bratislava in the near future," he said.
