Cervantino International Festival featured first ever Armenian music group
The Piano Trio named after Aram Khachaturian comprised of Armine Grigoryan (piano), Karen Shahgeldyan (violin) and Karen Kocharyan (cello) performed concerts in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar, Mexico city, Guanajuato, Merinda from October 2-20. The series of concerts were dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Armenian composer Komitas and the 20th anniversary of the establishments of the Trio.
As the Piano Trio reported in a press release, the concerts contributed to the promotion and recognition of Armenian music and musical performance. Moreover, the Trio was the first group from Armenia that took part in the Festival Internacional Cervantino (FIC), popularly known as El Cervantino, which takes place every year in the city of Guanajuato, Mexico.
It is noted that the tour was organised with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the Armenian Embassy to Mexico and European Foundation for Support of Culture.
