22 regional schools to be reconstructed in 2020, minister says
22 public schools in Armenian regions and 8 vocational educational colleges will be reconstructed in 2020 through state funds, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan stated on Thursday during the debates of the draft law on RA State Budget for 2020.
As Minister Harutyunyan said, some 2,5 billion AMD will be allocated to the spheres of education, science, culture and sport from the 2019 supplementary budget. In 2018, additional funding was allocated to establishment of robotics labs, while it is envisaged that 50% of all schools in Armenia will have Armath laboratories.
The Minister also updated on the upcoming Biology Olympiad which will take place in Armenia in 2020 and informed that numerous laboratories would be obtained by the ministry for that matter.
Overall, the RA State Budget for 2020 envisages implementation of 21 state programmes and 167 events. The budget allocations to the education, science, culture and sport sphere for the upcoming year is proposed to increase by 12,9%.
