Armenia’s Vayots Dzor has new governor
The Armenian government adopted a decision on Thursday to appoint Ararat Grigoryan as new governor of Vayots Dzor Province.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan offered his congratulations to the newly appointed governor, wishing him success during his tenure.
Grigoryan, for his part, thanked the cabinet for the trust placed in him. The official stressed he is aware of the problems in the region and is confident that he will manage to implement the government projects in the region to further improve the living standards of its residents.
The former Vayots Dzor governor, Trdat Sargsyan stepped down in September amid an investigation into his possible involvement in a violent dispute that left Lieutenant-Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan severely injured. His aide Harutyun Grigoryan was arrested on charges of assaulting the army officer.
