Stray dogs maul three mouflons to death in Yerevan Zoo one day after kangaroo attack
A pack of stray dogs has mauled three mouflons of the Yerevan Zoo to death one day afte three kangaroos of the zoo were killed by dogs.
The incident took place on Friday, at around 6am, the zoo said in a statement, adding its employees didn’t manage to catch the dogs.
They personnel of the Yerevan Zoo believes they are the same pack of dogs that attacked the kangaroos in the early hours on Thursday.
The zoo employees had managed to catch three dogs of the pack at the cage of kangaroos. They were transferred to an agency dealing with neutralization of stay dogs.
The zoo administration called on the authorities to track down and neutralize the pack urgently citing public safety concerns. The zoo warns “the dogs that have formed a pack and have already hunted animals are dangerous for both animals and humans.”
According to the statement, the Yerevan Zoo has also applied to the Armenian law enforcement agencies to carry out a preliminary investigation to rule out the human factor related to the dogs’ appearance in the zoo territory.
