FM: Armenia ready to engage in visa liberalization dialogue with EU
“The visa liberalization with the European Union is very important for us. We are working with both the European Commission and the EU member states,” Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said in the National Assembly on Friday.
Mnatsakanyan noted that Armenia has the full support of the European Commission in this issue, as expressed by its President Jean-Claude Juncker, which, according to the minister, is extremely important for mobilizing the process in the member states as well.
The FM said both parties are working on launching the visa liberalization dialogue, adding that the start of the dialogue does not entail visa-free travel between Armenia and the EU yet, but is an important step to advance the process.
Mnatsakanyan said a group has been set up to work on the visa liberalization process.
"The Foreign Ministry is coordinating this process, and this group is sent to capitals of various countries, where our colleagues engage in direct dialogue with relevant specialists to demonstrate the progress in the country which gives us confidence to claim that our country is ready to launch the visa liberalization dialogue,” the foreign minister said.
Mnatsakanyan also highlighted visa facilitation and readmission agreements with the EU.
