11 athletes to represent Armenia at World Sambo Championships
Armenia will have 11 representatives at the World Sambo Championships to be held in Cheongju, South Korea from 8-10 November.
On 8 November Tigran Kirakosyan (52 kg), Rafik Manukyan (68 kg) and Grigor Sahakyan (90 kg) will compete in the sport sambo and Mavrik Nasibyan (74 kg) will fight for a medal in the combat sambo, the National Olympic Committee's press service reported.
On 9 November Armenia’s only female representative Sose Balasanyan (52 kg) will start her performances, while Grigor Mkhitaryan (57 kg), Arsen Ghazaryan (74 kg) and Edik Petrosyan (100 kg) will perfom in the sport sambo event.
On 10 November Maksim Manukyan (62 kg) and Davit Grigoryan (82 kg) will take part in the sport sambo competition and John Balayan (52 kg) – in the combat sambo competition.
Head coach of the team Vovik Khojoyan and President of the Sambo Federation of Armenia Mikael Hayrapetyan will accompany the team.
Gold medalists of the World Championships will be awarded $3000, silver medalists – $2,000 and bronze medalists – $1,500.
