Authorities probing soldier’s death in Artsakh
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is probing the death of a 19-year-old private serviceman of the Artsakh Defense Army.
The solder, identified as Erik Harutyunyan, was fatally wounded on 4 November, at around 7:30pm in still unknown circumstances.
He served in a south-eastern military unit, according to an official press release of the Artsakh Defense Ministry.
In a statement on Tuesday. the committee said the private had suffered a fatal gunshot wound in the chin.
A criminal case has been launched into ‘causing somebody to commit suicide or make a suicide attempt by indirect willfulness or by negligence, by means of threat, cruel treatment or regular humiliation of one’s dignity’ under Article 110.1 of Armenia's Criminal Code.
Preliminary investigation is underway.
