Rug woven by April war heroes sells for $30,000 in Los Angeles auction
The Megerian Armenian “Diezerk” rug, woven by heroic Armenian soldiers wounded during the 2016 April war, was successfully auctioned last night at the Family Rescue Fund Gala in Los Angeles to raise funds amounting to $30,000.
The auction was organized by Armenian-Americans at the initiative of Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) Rector Armen Muradyan and Director of Homeland Defender’s Rehabilitation Center Haykuhi Minasyan, YSMU Chief of Staff Shushan Danielyan told Panorama.am.
She said People’s Artist of Armenia Jivan Gasparyan's duduk and Serj Tankian's guitar were also sold for $3,500 and $7,500, respectively, at the auction.
Danielyan said donations were also made during the auction which raised more than $150,000.
According to her, all proceeds will go to the construction of the Homeland Defender’s Rehabilitation Center’s new educational building, which will also feature a cafeteria.
