Mkhitarian Congregation thanks Armenians throughout the world for support in Venice flooding
“The Mkhitarian Congregation in Venice extends its wholehearted gratitude to all Armenians and their friends who promptly reacted to reports about the critical situation on Saint Lazarus Island of Venice,” Vicar at Mkhitarian Congregation Father Hamazasp Qeshishyan wrote on his Facebook. Qeshishyan thanked to all for the solidarity and readiness to assist amid the historic flood levels in Venice.
“We want to inform that through local forces we managed to clear water-ravaged premises of the cellarage,” Ftr. Hamazasp Qeshishyan wrote, also sharing bank details for facilitating transfers.

To note, the Mkhitarian or Mekhitarist Congregation was founded by Mkhitar Sebastatsi at Constantinople in 1701. The Congregation found its way to Saint Lazarus Island in Venice in 1717, turning the island into a unique religious, educational, scientific and cultural place.
