Armenia loses to Italy for the biggest defeat in its history
The Armenian national football team suffered the biggest defeat in its history losing to Italy 9 - 1 in the last qualifier for the 2020 European Championship on Monday. Ciro Immobile and Nicolo Zaniolo both scored twice while Jorginho converted a penalty in the second half. Nicolo Barella, Alessio Romagnoli, Riccardo Orsolini and Federico Chiesa also scored for the Italians.
The only goal for the Armenian side was scored by Edgar Babayan.
Italy, which had already qualified for Euro 2020 as Group J winner, ensured it progressed with a perfect record of 10 wins in 10 matches. Armenia was placed the fifth with 10 points in Group J ahead of the outsiders Lichtenstein.
