Levon Aronian took the last spot at the 2019 Tata Steel Chess India Rapid & Blitz
Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian failed at the 2019 Tata Steel Chess Rapid & Blitz held in Kolkata, India, the National Olympic Committee reported.
After five rounds of Rapid and 18 games of Blitz played, the Armenian scored 13 points and took the last 10th position. World Champion Magnus Carlsen won the tournament with 27 points, four points ahead of Hikaru Nakamura who took the second sport.
The tournament was part of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour, a series of eight events in which the world's best players competed for a total prize fund of $1.75 million. The finals will commence in London on December 2.
