Bills drafted by Prosperous Armenia, My Step factions not put on parliament agenda
A bill on alienation of property for the protection of prevailing public interests introduced by the opposition Prosperous Armenia (BHK) faction failed to be put on the agenda of the parliament session on Tuesday.
The draft law proposes amendments to the law on alienation of property for the protection of prevailing public interests. The issue mainly concerns the residents of Yerevan’s Kentron Districts, whose apartments are situated in the alienation zone. The authors of the bill propose to make changes in the compensation list, in particular to replace the 15% of the compensation provided by law with 25%.
The measure, which received a negative review by the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, failed to be brought to the floor in a 40-67 vote, with one abstention.
A draft law on making amendments to the law on refugees and asylum and the related laws, authored by members of the ruling My Step faction, also failed to be included in the agenda.
The measure proposes to lift criminal or administrative penalties against refugees, as well as asylum seekers who entered the territory of Armenia without authorization, but appeared before the competent authorities without delay and justified the reason for their illegal entry or stay.
The draft law was not put on the agenda of the session in a vote of 17 for, 88 against and 5 abstentions.
