When it comes to Karabakh, there remains a real risk of escalation։ Miroslav Lajcak
When it comes to Karabakh, there remains a real risk of escalation, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak said during the OSCE Ministerial Council.
Assessing the past year, Lajcak said the dialogue continued throughout the year - the Minsk Group process, the Geneva discussions, 5+2 format.
"Dialogue has continued throughout the year. Through various platforms, the organization tried to build trust, relieve tension and maintain dialogue. When it comes to Nagorno-Karabakh, there remains a real risk of escalation. As the outgoing chair, I do not have any magic formula on how to resolve these conflicts once and for all. What I do have is the strong belief that the OSCE efforts from deescalating tension to opening channels for a new dialogue are invaluable and this organization will be the first to offer its support for concrete steps towards peace," Lajcak added.
