Levon Aronian loses semifinal match to Ding Liren at Grand Chess Tour
Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian has lost to Ding Liren of China in the semifinal match of Grand Chess Tour playoff.
As the National Olympic Committee reported, the two grandmasters played two classical matches. After the Rapid and Blitz games, Ding Liren was victorious.
Meanwhile, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave defeated Magnus Carlsen to reach the final in a tiebreak of the second semifinal.
According to the source, Carlsen and Aronian will battle out for the third place qualifying spot to the 2020 GCT in addition to a $60,000 prize.
