Situation relatively calm on Artsakh frontline, says deputy defense minister
The situation along the line of contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan is relatively calm, Armenia’s Deputy Defense Minister Gabriel Balayan told reporters on Friday.
According to the official, the number of cross-border shootings neither grew nor dropped over the past week.
“Except for last week's incident when our serviceman was wounded in the north-eastern direction of the Defense Army and to which the Artsakh military responded very harshly, no other emergencies were recorded,” Gabriel Balayan said.
Commenting on the health of the wounded contract soldier identified as Rafael Azizyan, the official said positive dynamics have been observed in his condition. He said the soldier has undergone several surgeries, with another surgery slated for Friday.
"I think we'll be able to talk to him soon,” he added.
