Armenian parliament adopts bill on early retirement of Constitutional Court members
The Armenian National Assembly passed on Tuesday a draft law offering early retirement to Constitutional Court members.
The government-drafted bill passed the first parliamentary reading in a 65-33 vote.
Under the new measure, if members of the Constitutional Court resign by January 31, 2020, they will continue to receive pensions in the amount of their current salaries until the period when their mandates were to expire.
The authorities claim the new legislation will step up judicial reforms.
