MFA: The security of Artsakh people will not be compromised
“With its 30-year-long record of anti-Armenian policy Azerbaijan has proved it is unable to ensure the security of Artsakh people,” Spokeswoman at Armenia’s foreign ministry Anna Naghdalyan told reporters at a press briefing on Friday.
Naghdalyan’s remarks came at a request to comment Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov’s recent interview who had argued that the Armenian side had yet to formulate what security meant for them.
“Armenia remains the guarantor of Artsakh security, and that will not be compromised. There can be no situation when Artsakh people remains without necessary security lines for its defense,” Naghdalyan stressed.
The Armenian diplomat next recalled FM Mnatsakanyan’s remarks in Bratislava that the recognition of right to self-determination of the Artsakh people is at the basis of the NK settlement, and that right cannot be realized with limitations or compulsion.
“The people of Artsakh has the right to set its right to self-determination and realize it out of Azerbaijani sovereignty, jurisdiction and territorial integrity. All proposals that do not ensure the realization of Artsakh right to self-determination will not be accepted by Armenia,” Naghdalyan concluded.
