11 thousand job seekers employed over the past year - Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs sums up its activities
The year 2019 was difficult and it was mostly a year of preparation works, Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan told a year-end press conference on Friday. In Batoyan’s words, the ministry has worked towards introducing structural changes, particularly initiating reforms in all spheres and implementing research and discussions on different models.
As the minister stressed, the ministry adopted three principles in organizing its work – assessing the real needs of the citizens, developing a relevant policy and ensuring the integrity of the programmes.
Speaking of the state policy to overcome poverty, Zaruhi Batoyan stressed that the state should create conditions for people to develop theirs skills, professional capacities and find a job.
Batoyan presented statistics that some 4000 vacancies have been listed as part of employment programme and the list of available jobs was posted on the ministry official website. Over the past year 10 job fair were organized in the country involving 367 employers and 13,500 vacancies.
“In 2019, some 11 thousand people were employed through the State Employment Agency - 7794 of them were women, 3483 - youth and 203 people with disability,” Batoyan said.
