Famous Armenian writer Vahram Tatikyan dies at 70
Prominent Armenian prose writer, singer and songwriter Vahram Tatikyan has passed away at the age of 70, the Writers’ Union of Armenia reported.
The artist’s wake will take place at Adana Funeral Home in Yerevan on December 17, at 6pm, with his funeral set for December 18, between 12-2pm.
Vahram Tatikyan was born on November 14, 1949 in Yerevan to the family of prose writers Shahen Tatikyan and Shake Varsyan.
He graduated from the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of History at Yerevan State University, specializing in the Armenian art history.
Since 1974, he worked at the Institute of Arts of Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences. He has authored numerous scientific articles and more than 20 sketches for carpets. Tatikyan has also written hundreds of songs.
In 1977, he became a member of the Writers’ Union of Armenia.
In 1988, Vahram Tatikyan joined the Artsakh liberation movement. In 1981, he published his books entitled “Art of Armenian Carpet Weaving” and “Forty Songs or Two Concerts for You”.
