The nephew of the former president extradited to Armenia, held in a Penitentiary Service
Narek Sargsyan, the nephew of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has been extradited from the Czech Republic. Sargsyan faces various criminal charges and is now at a Penitentiary Service, the acting Chief of Police Arman Sargsyan told reporters on Saturday. Asked about the future measures against him, the Head of Police noted the updates will be provided in the scope of the preliminary investigation.
To remind, Armenia’s National Security Service issued an arrest warrant for the ex-president’s nephew in July 2018, with an international arrest warrant issued for him. He is charged with drug trafficking and weapon possession. Narek Sargsyan was apprehended in Prague last year in December. He reportedly produced during the arrest a fake Guatemalan passport identifying him as Franklin Gonzalez.
