Yerevan New Year tree among three tallest in CIS capitals
Armenian’s main New Year tree set up in capital Yerevan has been named among the three tallest New Year trees in the capitals of the CIS countries.
The 37-meter high Yerevan New Year tree comes second on the list compiled by TurStat analytical agency after that of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, which is 40 meters high.
The New Year tree set up in Tashkent, Uzbekistan which is 36 meters high, ranks third on the list.
The list of the 10 tallest New Year trees of the CIS capitals also includes the ones in Baku (34 meters), Minsk (30 meters), Dushanbe (29 meters), Moscow (27 meters), Bishkek (27 meters), Nur-Sultan (25 meters) and Chisinau (20 meters).
The 27-meter tall New Year tree in Russia is erected at Sobornaya Square near the Kremlin and is the only natural fir tree of all the CIS capitals.
The main New Year tree in Yerevan lit up on 21 December.
