Series of concerts dedicated to the 250th anniversary of Beethoven planned in Armenia
Series of concerts titled “Ten sonatas for piano and violin and the music world of the time” will take place at Aram Khachaturian Museum House in Yerevan to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth. Every concert will feature piano compositions of the composer as well as other music works of the time.
The first concert will be performed by Khachaturian Trio Armine Grigoryan (piano) and Karen Shahgeldyan (violin) and features Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 1 created in 1798.
Musicians of State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia Rima Mirzoyan (violin), Armen Torosyan (Alt), Siphan Torosyan (cello) will participate in the concert, while special guests of the event are Hakob Jaghaspanyan (guitar) and Maria Machkalyan (violin).
As the ministry of education, science, culture and sports report the first event will take place on December 26 and then concerts will continue throughout 2020.
To note, in 2020, the world will celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday. The Beethoven anniversary year has officially launched on December 16, 2019 and will continue until December 17, 2020 - marking the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's baptism (the exact birth date is unknown).
