Ice statue of legendary intelligence officers Gohar and Gevorg Vardanyans to be placed in Moscow
The ice statue of legendary Soviet-Armenian intelligence officers, the Hero of the Soviet Union Gevorg Vardanyan and his wife Gohar Vardanyan will placed in Moscow. As the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation reported, the statue will capture the moment of couple’s wedding in 1946 and will be placed in the Museum Complex “History” devoted to the Soviet era.
Ria Novosty news agency reports that the couple married for three times and only in the first ceremony Gohar appeared wearing a white dress. The statue will open in the frames of “Icy Moscow” festival.
To remind, legendary Soviet Armenian spy Gohar Vardanyan, who took part in a secret operation to ensure the security of the 1943 Tehran Conference, died in Moscow on Monday at the age of 93.
Gohar Vardanyan was companion in arms with her prominent husband for 45 years of service.
The couple worked as intelligence agents in several countries between the early 1950s and 1986.
