31-year-old Armenian convict dies in hospital
A 31-year-old convict of an Armenian prison has died in hospital, the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Department at the Justice Ministry reported.
The inmate of Armavir Penitentiary, identified as Artur Karapetyan, was rushed to the Vagharshapat town hospital by ambulance after falling ill on Thursday, shortly after midnight.
He was pronounced dead in hospital with an initial diagnosis of a cardiac arrest, the authorities said.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the convict’s death.
A forensic and medical examination has been instructed.
