Yerevan court approved the SIS petition to arrest the owner of the Fifth Channel
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction approved on Thursday the petition filed by the country’s Special Investigation Service (SIS) to arrest the owner of the Fifth Channel Arman Tavadyan. As the lawyer Hovhannes Khudoyan told reporters, the court approved the SIS appeal to arrest Tavadyan for two months and rejected the complaint of the defense team over the legality of the arrest.
Khudoyan added, the court is expected to provide the written decision of the ruling during the day. Upon receiving it, the defense team will decide on further steps on appealing it.
“We will definitely appeal the ruling with additional statement to be issued later,” Khudoyan said.
To remind, the SIS arrested owner of the Fifth Channel Armen Tavadyan on Tuesday on suspicion of seeking false testimony in favour of Armenia’s jailed former President Robert Kocharyan.
