Friday morning update on road conditions
Some highways are closed or difficult to pass in the territory of Armenia as of 8:30am Friday, January 3, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a daily road condition update.
Vardenyats Pass (from the side of Gegharkunik Province) is closed for trucks and is difficult to pass for cars.
Vardenyats Pass (from the side of Vayots Dzor Province) is covered with clear ice.
Snowfalls are reported in the towns of Jermuk (Vayots Dzor Province), Goris and Kajaran (Syunik Province), as well as on Sisian-"Zanger" roadway.
According to the Department of Emergency Situations of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center (CMC) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, Stepantsminda-Larsi highway is open for all types of vehicles.
Drivers are strongly urged to use winter tires.
