Saturday morning update on road conditions
Some highways are closed or difficult to pass in the territory of Armenia as of 10am Saturday, January 4, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Vardenyats Pass is shut down for trucks and is difficult to pass for passenger vehicles.
Sotk-Karvachar highway is difficult to pass, and for trucks only with installed tire chains.
Sotk-Karvachar highway, Vardenyats Pass, Kotayk Province roads and Lanjik-Mastara highway are partly covered with clear ice.
Fog has descended on Vardenyats Pass, as well as on the towns of Dilijan, Berd and Noyemberyan in Tavush Province.
According to the Department of Emergency Situations of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center (CMC) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, Stepantsminda-Larsi highway is open for all types of vehicles.
Drivers are strongly urged to use winter tires.
