Kocharyan's lawyer appeals arrest ruling to Court of Cassation
Hayk Alumyan, a lawyer of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan, has appealed the arrest ruling of the Yerevan appellate court to the Court of Cassation, the defense team said in a statement.
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by judge Anna Danibekyan, denied a motion of the ex-president’s lawyers to release him on bail on 7 November, a ruling appealed by the defense team to the higher court.
On 20 December judge Lusine Abgaryan of the Criminal Court of Appeals unpled the lower court ruling to keep Kocharyan under arrest pending the outcome of his trial.
