Armenia top court chair Hrayr Tovmasyan’s godson arrested again
A Yerevan court ruled on Thursday to re-arrest Norayr Panosyan, the godson of Chairman of Armenia’s Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan, his lawyer Tigran Atanesyan told reporters.
“I regret that the judicial system is in a more deplorable condition now than it used to be under the presidency of Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan. It has been simply destroyed,” the lawyer said, stressing they will certainly appeal the “subservient and shameful” decision of the court.
Tigran Atanesyan, a former chief of the Inspectorate for Law Enforcement Control at the Ministry of Justice, was first arrested on 1 October. He was released on 6 November.
Atanesyan has been charged with abuse of authority, which led to severe consequences.
Tovmasyan is also facing abuse of power charges.
