Staff, kids evacuated as fire breaks out at Armenia’s paediatric rehabilitation center
A fire erupted at the Republican Paediatric Rehabilitation Center in Yerevan, Armenia's capital, in the early hours of Friday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Two fire and rescue teams of the ministry, as well as the emergency response group of the National Center for Crisis Management were dispatched to the scene after the 911 hotline received a fire report at 5:39am.
The fire is reported to have broken out in one of the bedrooms on the first floor of the center’s third building.
Two employees and 10 children had to be evacuated in the wake of the fire, which was contained at 5:57am and put out at 6:15am.
The fire partially damaged the furniture of the room.
One employee, identified as Roman E., 23, received immediate medical aid at the scene.
The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately clear.
