Fruit, vegetable prices up in Armenia in December 2019: statistics
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew by 3.0% in Armenia December 2019 from the previous month, which was largely prompted by 4.9% and 19.9% rise in vegetable and fruit prices, respectively, the latest official statistics show.
According to the data published by the Statistical Committee, fruit prices dropped by 2.7% last month against the same month of 2018, and increased by 4.9% against the previous month.
Prices of vegetables rose by 19.9% in December of the past year to compare with October 2018, and by 5.9% from December 2019.
In total, fruit and veg inflation was 14.4% in December 2019 against November. Having a share of 9.08% in the consumer basket, those product groups contributed to a 1.3 percentage point increase in overall consumer prices in the reporting period.
