Yeghvard residents to protest closure of local hospital tomorrow
The resident of Yeghvard town who have been protesting since morning in front of the local maternity hospital against the government decision of its closure, will continue their protest tomorrow. One of the participants of the protest told reporters that tomorrow at 11 the residents will hold a meeting with representatives of the health and social protection departments of the local administration. Depending on the outcome of the meetings they will gather in front of the hospital to decide on future steps.
Today’s protests were joined by the staff of the hospital who vowed to raise their voice.
The protests were provoked by the decision of the ministry of healthcare that mandated the closure of state-funded maternity hospitals handling fewer than 150 childbirths annually.
