Artavazd Theater Award 2020 to pay tribute to renowned Armenian actor Yervand Ghazanchyan
Yerevan’s Hakob Paronyan State Musical Comedy Theater hosted on Wednesday an extended meeting of the leadership of the Armenian Theater Workers' Union, which addressed several issues related to the annual Artavazd Theater Award 2020.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan on March 27, which marks the International Theater Day.
Addressing the meeting were Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Ara Khzmalyan and Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Virabyan, the Theater Workers’ Union reported.
President of the Armenian Theater Workers' Union Hakob Ghazanchyan presented several proposed changes in the rules of procedure of Artavazd Theater Award approved by the attendees. January 21 was set as the deadline for submitting applications.
The meeting approved the following composition of the award experts:
1. Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Ara Khzmalyan;
2. Dramatist, Editor-in-Chief of Literary Newspaper and Dramaturgy magazine Karine Khodikyan;
3. Artistic Director of Yerevan State Pantomime Theater Jirayr Dadasyan;
4. Director of Gyumri State Drama Theatre after Vardan Achemyan, stage director Lyudvig Harutyunyan;
5. Dean of the Faculty of Theater of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinematography, Professor Anna Hekekyan;
6. Director of Yerevan Chamber Theater, stage director Lusine Yernjakyan;
7. Theater and film director Aram Shahbazyan.
This year’s Artavazd Theater Award is dedicated to the memory of prominent Armenian actor and stage director Yervand Ghazanchyan, who passed away in July 2019 at the age of 82.
