Thursday afternoon update on road conditions
Some highways are closed or difficult to pass in the territory of Armenia as of 2pm Thursday, January 16, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Vardenyats Pass and Sotk-Karvachar highway are closed for trailer trucks and difficult to pass for other types of vehicles.
Hartashen-Tashir section of H 31 highway is shut down.
Shurnukh-"Katari" section of Goris-Kapan highway of Syunik Province is covered with black ice.
Snowfalls are reported in in Gegharkunik Province (except Martuni and Vardenis towns), on Sotk-Karvachar highway, in the towns of Charentsavan, Hrazdan (Kotayk Province), Aparan, Talin (Aragatsotn Province), Stepanavan, Vanadzor and Alaverdi (Lori Province), as well as in Syunik and Tavush Provinces.
According to the Department of Emergency Situations of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center (CMC) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, Stepantsminda-Larsi highway is open for all types of vehicles.
Drivers are strongly urged to use winter tires.
