Three rockets hit near US embassy in Baghdad
Three rockets fell near the US embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday, local time, New York Post said, citing reports.
The Katyusha rockets hit inside the Iraqi capital’s Green Zone, which houses government buildings and foreign missions, Iraqi police sources told Reuters.
No casualties were immediately reported.
Sirens could be heard blaring in the area after the missiles made impact.
Iraq has recently been rocked by protests amid soaring tensions between Washington and Tehran, following a drone strike that killed top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad earlier this month.
In retaliation, Iran launched several missiles at Iraqi bases housing American troops.
