Vartine Ohanian becomes first female Armenian minister in Lebanon’s history
Armenian Vartine Ohanian was appointed Lebanon's Minister of Youth and Sport, becoming the first female Armenian to be appointed minister in the country's history, Horizon Weekly reported.
Varteni Ohanian is the director of Zvartnots Educational Center. Her candidacy was submitted by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.
Zeina Akar became the first female defence minister in Lebanon’s history.
Lebanon got a 20-minister government led by Prime Minister Hassan Diab on Tuesday, after 33 days of negotiations.
The Cabinet’s line-up was announced following a meeting between PM Hassan Diab, President Michel Aoun and speaker of the house Nabih Berri at the Baabda Presidential Palace.
The new government is set to hold its first session on Wednesday.
