Constitutional Court head says authorities seek to ‘get rid of' him as soon as possible
Constitutional Court Chairman Hrayr Tovmasyan reacted to the search conducted in his apartment by the Special Investigative Service on Friday.
“I was summoned for questioning for 2 to 3 times and today a search was conducted in my home. Throughout this period, I made only one request, that is the whole process be videotaped,” he told reporters, adding their demand, however, has repeatedly been rejected by the law-enforcement authorities.
The head of Armenia’s top court thanked reporters, adding the public oversight of the case is of key importance for him.
“All these developments surrounding me and the Constitutional Court come to prove that the problems are actually profound," he said. "The authorities seek to get rid of me as Constitutional Court chairman as soon as possible. And all this is being done in a very rough and obvious manner, that’s why not only our society, but also the whole international community is fully aware of it.”
