Mkhitaryan says 'honored' to be voted as Armenia’s Player of the Year
Armenian national football team captain and AS Roma midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan says he is honored to be named Armenia’s Player of the Year.
“It is always an honor for me to be voted as my country’s Player of the Year, for the 9th time now,” Mkhitaryan said in a Facebook post.
“Thanks to all those who have voted,” he added.
Mkhitaryan was named Player of the Year 2019 on Wednesday after receiving 109 points, the Football Federation of Armenia revealed.
He has been the captain of the Armenian national team since 2015 and is considered the best scorer in the squad’s history with 29 goals in 86 matches. Mkhitaryan is the only Armenian footballer to have played in the English Premier League. In 2017 he was included among the top ten athletes of Armenia.
