Armenia parliament kicks off special session to discuss constitutional changes
The Armenian National Assembly has started its second emergency session of Thursday to discuss the proposed amendments to the Constitution.
A total of 110 lawmakers have registered.
The first special session of the parliament was cancelled after the authors retracted bills on its agenda.
The bill drafted by several MPs of the ruling My Step faction would dismiss the Constitutional Court chairman and its six members who were installed before the entry into force of Chapter 7 of the Constitution.
The draft law proposes in particular to edit Article 213 of the Constitution amended in 2015.
According to the changes, nominations for the vacancies of the highest court judges will be made successively by the Armenian government, president and General Assembly of Judges.
If adopted, the law will take effect on the next day of its publication.
