Prosecutor’s Office again returns case against ex-Armenian parliament speaker to investigator
The Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office has again returned the criminal case against former Armenian National Assembly Speaker Ara Babloyan to the investigator, his lawyer Aram Vardevanyan said in a Facebook post.
“The Prosecutor’s Office decided to again return the criminal case against A. Babloyan to the investigator, again partially satisfying my appeal. I attach great importance to such a position and a principled decision of the Prosecutor's Office in this case,” he wrote.
A prosecutor dealing with the case first refused to do so and ordered an “additional investigation” into the case on 24 December.
Ara Babloyan has been charged with ‘usurpation of power’ on 28 October as part of a criminal inquiry into Hrayr Tovmasyan’s appointment as chairman of Armenia’s Constitutional Court in 2018.
