Charges against Serzh Sargsyan’s ex-bodyguard dropped
The Special Investigative Service (SIS) of Armenia has dropped the criminal charges against Vachagan Ghazaryan, the former chief bodyguard of Armenia's ex-President Serzh Sargsyan, and his wife Ruzanna Beglaryan, SIS spokeswoman Marina Ohanjanyan confirmed to Pastinfo.
Ghazaryan was charged with illicit enrichment in 2018. The law-enforcement agency accused him of failure to declare more than $2.5 million.
He was first arrested in June 2018 after police found a large sum of money while raiding his apartment in Yerevan.
Ghazaryan was released on bail in December 2018 after offering to transfer $6 million to the state.
