Armenian photographer German Avagyan dies at 58
Armenian photographer and photojournalist German Avagyan has passed away at the age of 58.
The cause of his death was not immediately clear.
The photographer was born in 1962 in Georgia. From 1974-1978 he lived in Germany. From 1979-1980 he studied in the Belarusian town of Shuchin, while from 1980-1985 – at Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. Since 1989, he worked as a freelance photographer for various publications.
He made photos for the Social Investment Fund of Armenia. German Avagyan’s work covered social issues, mental health issues, mining issues, disability and poverty.
He held exhibitions in Armenia, Moscow, Germany, France and Canada. The photographer held 30 solo travelling exhibitions in Armenia’s border villages.
