Aeroflot Open 2020 to start in Moscow tomorrow
One of the oldest and most popular open chess tournaments - the International Chess Festival "Aeroflot Open 2020" - will be held in Moscow from 18 February to 29 February in Moscow.
Three Open Tournaments (A, B and C) are made up according to the rating of the participants, and are 9-round Swiss tournaments. Naturally, the greatest interest is aroused by A tournament, requiring from a participant a rating above 2550 and in which usually take part a number of extra class players. Three players from Armenia – Gabriel Sargsyan, young grandmaster Hayk Martirosyan and Shant Sargsyan will play in the tournament. Elina Danielyan, Lilit Mkrtchyan. Anna Sargsyan and international aster Davit Sargsyan will play in B tournament, while artur Gharagyozyna will compete in the C tournament.
As the organizers report, the total prize fund is EUR 140,000. For the first time in the Festival's history, the children's chess festival "Anatoly Karpov Open" will be held as well as a traditional blitz tournament.
